CB radio uses the 11 meter band (radio frequency band) and is used by truckers and public,since it is the band designated for public use.
The Ham radio system incorporates most of the other bands of frequencies, except for the ones reserved for military and aircraft use. Ham radio also requires a license to operate. These are obtained from the FCC after you pass a lot of tests showing that you know what you are doing. You don’t want to find out how harsh the penalties are for operating a Ham radio without a license. Ham radio are a big part of the backbone of emergency communications, when there are disasters.
